Cadent and our partners announced that Whitby, Ellesmere Port had been shortlisted as a potential location for the Hydrogen Village programme in May this year. Since then, we’ve spoken with the majority of households in Whitby, opened our Hydrogen Experience Centre, and delivered more than 1,000 in-home hydrogen assessments.

It’s been fantastic to see the level of local interest in the Hydrogen Village programme and we are really grateful for all your feedback.

We know that residents and businesses will continue to have questions about the programme. We want to make sure that everyone in the community has the opportunity to hear the answers.

That’s why we are inviting people living and working in Whitby to a series of community information days. These will be an opportunity to meet our team, learn more about the Hydrogen Village programme, and ask any questions you may have.

Our first event took place on Tuesday 13th December at Wolverham Community Centre. You can find out more about what happened on the day here.

The next event takes place on 10th January 2023, 10.30am-2pm and 3pm-8pm at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall, Civic Way, Ellesmere Port CH65 0AZ.

You can drop in any time during these hours. We’ll also be hosting Q&A roundtables at 12.30pm, 4pm, 5.30pm and 7pm – on topics such as keeping you safe, the role of hydrogen in meeting net zero, and the purpose of the programme – allowing a further opportunity to ask questions to our team and external speakers.

Organisations that will be represented at the events includes:

  • Cadent
  • British Gas
  • Cheshire West and Chester Council
  • ARUP
  • Worcester Bosch
  • Energy Networks Association

We’ll also be holding a series of online webinars, which will provide an opportunity to learn more about key topics of interest and ask questions.

We look forward to meeting even more of you in the coming weeks and to discussing what the Hydrogen Village programme is all about.
