Theatre Porto is the only specialist, purpose-built theatre and cultural centre for children and young people in Cheshire and is one of a small number across England. Founded in 1986 as Action Transport Theatre, the company is proud of the impact it has had, transforming the lives of local children, young people, and wider communities.

For decades, young people have been engaging with the group as audiences and participants consistently feeding back that the spaces provided have offered them a ‘life-line’ at important moments in their personal development. They provide an important space for children and young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to feel welcomed and valued, and able to express their individuality and creativity.

Theatre Porto will use the money to secure the appointment of a pastoral worker to support additional sessions of its drama ‘drop in’ project. It will also enable them to keep this provision free of charge.
