The 8th Ellesmere Port Scout Group was established in 1941 and currently provides Scouting experiences to four sections: Beavers (6-8 years), Cubs (8 to 10 years), Scouts (10 to 14 years), Explorers (14 to 18 years) through a team of dedicated volunteer leaders. It recruits from the Whitby and wider area and is the only Scout Group close to the town centre.

Following the recent creation of a new section for Scout Groups – Squirrels (4 to 6-years) – the Ellesmere Port Scout Group would like to introduce a new section at their Group meeting venue in Whitby in January 2023. This new section will support Early Years Learning as well as hopefully commencing a path for young people through the later sections through moving on.

Funding will provide resources for the new section of up to 18 young people, together with two new adult volunteer leaders and hall hire for the first two years of operation. The new section will promote key skills like working together, communication and language, as well as creativity and community awareness. Squirrels get active, explore nature and have fun learning with friends, all while earning badges.
